Plein Air Workshop

Donelli J. DiMaria will be teaching a plein air workshop at Mammoth Lakes, CA (near Yosemite National Park) from June 25th to June 30th (4 days and 5 nights). The workshop cost is $500. Lodging and transportation to painting sites would be another $400. Also, I will be giving demonstrations and instruction at night on the "Reilly" drawing technique to anyone interested. Figure Drawing Book Available On Lulu

Our book "Figure Drawing From Life: Tools, Techniques, and Tricks" by Donelli J. and Diane M. DiMaria is now available through Lulu (www.lulu.com, ID # 10103632). Lulu will ship to anywhere in the world, and you can see a preview of the book on this site. This manual covers a step-by-step drawing procedure based on the "Reilly" technique that allows for full figure drawings in 10 minutes or less. In addition, it contains three step-by-step demonstrations and a drawing gallery. The book is 76 pages long, in black and white, and 11x8.5 inches. Currently, I am discounting it by 20% off the retail price as an introductory offer with the paperback edition at $20 and the downloadable version at $8.

Contemporary American Realism 2008 Biennial

Donelli J. DiMaria's oil painting "Rejoice" will be shown in the Contemporary American Realism 2008 Biennial at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art (Fort Wayne, IN) from Sept. 13-Nov.2, 2008. Opening lectures and reception for this show will be held on Sept. 12, 2008.

Reilly Technique Drawing Demos

Donelli J. DiMaria has posted two drawing demonstrations on youtube (www.youtube.com/DJDiMaria) that were used in a workshop that he taught in Albuquerque, NM (Apr.-May 2008). With this technique based on the teachings of Frank Reilly (Art Students League-NYC 1935-1965), full figures can be draw in less than ten minutes. The running time for the posted videos is approximately five minutes or less for each.
